Hope
Congratulations USA. You did something today that makes me feel like maybe I belong here afterall. You did something today that makes me proud. You did something today that, for me at least, was absolutely the right thing to do.
Mr. Obama, undoubtedly you have your work cut out for you. But for the first time in years, I am hopeful. I am hopeful that there will be a world for my grandchildren that vaguely resembles the world I have known, that there will be mountains to climb, air to breathe, wildlife to see and appreciate. I am hopeful that the USA can regain a measure of leadership among nations of the world. I am hopeful that equality and individuality will again be prioritized as "American" values.
I know, Mr. President-Elect, that you cannot do any of this alone, or right away, or perhaps some of it at all. But I have hope now, which has been missing until tonight.
If I can help in some way besides voting my conscience and doing my best to raise children who will be solid, responsible citizens -- part of a solution rather than part of the problems, I volunteer.
Thank you, and best wishes, Mr. Obama. May your family flourish, and may you succeed in leading this country beyond all hopes and expectations.

i am so relieved i don't have to move to canada after all.
now, how about another glass of celebratory champagne?
Kat: Can I put orange juice in it? :)
OF COURSE YOU CAN.
Mmmmm, Mimosas. I want one!
Today is a great day!
Hey! I might move down from Canada now!
Mmm, Mimosas INDEED!
I'm very much in a mood to celebrate today. Unfortunately, my "mood enhancer" at the moment is Dayquil as I'm sick as hell. But I will toast to the new era when I'm well enough, of course! ;-)
I endorse this post, and I love kranki's comment. This is a really good day for us all. And I'm happy you have hope again. I hope you can keep it, no matter what.
mmm, champagne with OJ? sounds good to me!
Sounds like Mr. Obama will do well!
Heh. We actually DID have mimosas during Barack's speech Tues. night. The relief of his election goes beyond words.....good luck to him and all of us as we start on the path to taking our nation back from the dumb asses. (Did I just say that? ;)
A.
I have never felt so fantastically euphoric about a president's election (with an "L" you pervs) as I do about this one. Yay us!
Yes, we have hope! I'm thrilled.
Mmmmmmmmm...hope! It feels deelish!
Kat: YES WE CAN!
TysGirl: Here ya go -- only yours is without any champagne for another couple months or so. Sorry, but it's totally worth it later. :)
Kranki: YAY! OK, let's start with this really great little town in north central Washington state...
Q: Are ya feeling better yet? Are ya, are ya? Huh? Huh? Can we drink yet? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeze?
Susie: Oooooh, I've been endorsed! I love that. I love Kranki's comment too, and Kranki, for that matter.
Effie: I'm hoping so. Someday, with any luck, the USA will join Canada in being civilized and providing for the basic health, education and welfare for its citizens. :)
Ang: Yes, you DID just say that! And I nodded my head in agreement, too. So there!
Jim: Hee! "L" indeed. ;) Yay us!!
Squirl: Me too! :::happy dance:::
HTGT: It STILL does, too. I wonder how long this hope is going to last?
I am so happy about this!
*raises glass of mimosa*
Cheers! :D
