...and the winner is: ME!

I've long suspected that downtown Wenatchee is the epicenter of the universe, and my suspicions were confirmed today.

While driving home over the lunch hour, I noticed an unusual volume of traffic near the convention center. Partly in irritation, and partly from curiosity, I began paying attention to the 'extra' drivers around me. Here's a snippet of the conversation I had with myself:

"There's a group of college-age kids in a little sedan, and a guy in a bright red car, there's a couple of... wait."

"That guy. In the red car. He looks familiar."

"He looks a lot like Brandon."

"Naaaah. If Brandon were in town, he would have emailed to let me know. Can't be."

"Holy crap. It IS!"

:::waving::: "Hi Brandon!" (This last bit as I rounded the corner past him.)

"He didn't see me. I wonder if I have his cell number." (I did. Of course, he said he meant to call me later today. I believe him. Because, why would he lie?)

What I'm trying to tell you here, is that by the mere fact of being at the epicenter of the universe at the right moment today, I had the opportunity to spend the evening with Brandon, and Dave, and a bunch of other people I really like*, even though they don't have blogs for me to link. Even Jenny and Vahid put in cameo phone appearances.

Actually, for a short while, I was the only woman at a table with 4 incredibly hot men... proving further that the universe favors me, presumably because I live and work at its epicenter.

Anyway, sorry for any of you who aren't me, and/or who don't live or work at the epicenter of the universe. You'll probably never have a day where you run into an old friend who's trying to dis you, but you totally call them out, and end up with an impromptu TequilaCon ad hoc sub-committee meeting. And all I can say to that is, "Wow. That's really sad." Because today was a delightful surprise!

Thanks B. You're a good sport, and a master of managing awkward conversation with diverse personalities. It was a great pleasure to watch you at work, and lovely to see you again. Dave, thanks for putting work aside at the drop of a hat to come hang out. Hopefully, we needn't wait until TC'09 to get together again.

*Well, also one other guy I keep trying to like because he's been Mr. Eclectic's friend for a long, long time. Don't judge.

Okay, FINE. I GET IT. I'll start packing my bags and start hitchhiking towards Wenatchee RIGHT NOW.

You win. Sigh.

AND you get to see Vahid and Abigail soon, right? Not that I'm jealous or anything (yes I am), but you are seriously the luckiest woman on the face of the planet.

Seriously - everything cool happens in Wenatchee. How come I never run into bloggers on the street?

Wow. Dude gets around. He was down this way recently too. I didn't run into him, but he was here and he left Dallas in a shambles. You should see the state of the School District. Just awful. Is that his fault? Yes. Yes it is.

Hello, Shari.

"Bunch of other people you really like?!?" If they don't have blogs, how is this possible?

It's totally the red hair, it gives you magical powers and makes good things happen to you!

I just know some day I'm going to be floating on a boat on Norris and think to myself, "Hey, that looked just like Eclectic doing tricks on that jet ski! Ooooo, it is Eclectic!"

What? A girl can dream. Isn't it time you visit your BIL?

Vahid: FINALLY. I wondered when you'd come to your senses.

Kat!: Right now, I'd have to agree. Although last spring when you were in Philly at TC'08 and I was not? NOT FEELING LUCKY THEN.

Jenny: Oh sure, show me the Puppet Bike is all I'm sayin.'

Susie: Well not really, since I made him buy my beer. ;)

Scott: Technically, his being here is not as remarkable as being in Dallas, so maybe that explains why he left less of a shambles here. I don't know.

Dave: I KNOW! But I'm not imagining them, you MET them. So, I can't explain it. But it was great to see you!

Brandon: It's a common mistake. And really, after a couple beers, it doesn't matter where you are. :) Thanks again for a great evening.

TysGirl: It's totally the red hair. ;) My BIL ended up coming out here this year instead. But one of these days... and I promise I'll let you know the details as soon as I do.

HEY!! You had a fantastic day yesterday!! That's awesome.

My day wasn't too bad either, even without any alcohol involved. :)

Love you!

Sounds like fun! You should live closer to this part of the country. There are plenty of bloggers (sisters) for you to hang out with here. :-)

TysGirl: I KNOW! But you could follow his excellent example...!

CK: Who needs alcohol when there's chocolate cake?! ;) Love you too.

Squirl: That's true, I suppose. You do sort of live in the epicenter of the sisterhood.
