And now, for a little rant.
Insurance companies have to be among the most greedy, self-serving, hedonistic companies ever formed in the history of business.
They spend millions of dollars lobbying Congress to protect them from the normal economics of the open market, millions of dollars "compensating" CEOs and such, and millions of dollars avoiding their duty to pay, fighting lawsuits from little people trying to make insurance companies fulfill their obligation to INSURE those people against losses they've sustained. (Um, last time I checked, that was the whole point of buying INSURANCE.)
I am so sick, SO SICK of empty promises, rising premiums, state-mandated purchasing... I mean, you can't even vote against these giants with your feet because the government REQUIRES you to carry "insurance," but does NOT require them to pay you when you suffer a loss. And even if they do pay, it's never without a battle, without delay, and without consequence.
Buying insurance is like legalized extortion, it is; and frankly, I wonder how long we as a society are going to continue to let them get away with it.
I'm done now.

Having handed, just moments ago, $250 in cash as partial payment for the portion of the bill the insurance didn't cover for the dental work I just had....this is a well-timed post.
It doesn't make me or my wallet or my mouth feel any better, but it's a well-timed post.
Anybody got any hard candy? Eh, never mind.
I couldn't agree more!!
Amen sister!
True dat. Now-a-days it costs a fortune but gives you less and less.
...and all this explains why banks have been getting into the insurance business.
You want for me to sic my attack cat on the insurance people?
He'd do it, y'know.
Word up. :P
/He bites noses...ow.
And people have the nerve to make lawyer jokes. All of the lawyer jokes should be turned into insurance jokes.
Say it!
I agree with Squirl. I have a SINKHOLE under one of my houses. The insurance company jerked me around for months and tried everything to get out of paying. I finally wrote them a letter disputing every stupid excuse and then I got a lawyer. I told him to give them ten days before filing a lawsuit. He wrote them and notified them that they had ten days before we happily began to sue their pants off. Shockingly, the greedy buggers paid up on day nine. Jerks.
