"YESSSSS! Now it's safe to go potty!!!"

So said Littlest Eclectic upon hearing that the forest of Joshua trees at the approach to the Grand Canyon had given way to gentler high-desert topography. Apparently, Joshua trees are threatful. Who knew?

Yes, Dear Internets… “we loaded up the truck and moved to Beverleeeeee… Hills, that is.” Well, not exactly. But we DID drive about 3,200 miles in the space of 11 days, and saw things – lots of things, wondrous things, AMAZING things. Like this:

And this:

And this:

Also, this:

As well as this:

So… I wish that all of you could have been there with me, but I notice that none of you offered to help me drive. Whatever.

I’ll post more photos later, because I know that most people love nothing more than being subjected to slide shows of other people’s vacations, and I wouldn’t want to deprive you. I’m a giver like that. Between now and then I have to work, update the family calendar for the month, file my taxes, and tackle the mountain of dirty laundry that looms ominously in the utility room. If I don’t return, start the questioning with that innocent-looking Snuggle character.

Your trip looks totally amazing. I'm glad you're back!

Oh.Wow.

Beautiful pictures!! I'm so jealous! Earlier today, I sent Hubby a link to a lovely looking hotel in Sedona, and a charming little vacation "package" that goes with it. It would make a lovely trip for two... ;)

I am SO glad you're back!!

Oh, btw, what are those little orange flowers?? Do you know?

((Hugs))

I would have driven for a bit, but you never asked. ;)

Shelly: Damn! Where were you when we were heading from Provo to the South Rim in the snow?! Smooches right back!

TG: Nah, I was drafting it when you texted, but didn't post it until a little bit AFTER, so see? You're good! Besides, do you need a reason to text me? I don't think so.

Mo/Dis: I KNEW it! ;)

CK: I do NOT know. I'm hoping someone, maybe Squirl? would know. And thanks, I'm glad to be back!

Kat!: Yeah... car travel with three kids. I can see where that'd make people jealous. ;)

Shawkey: I'm partial to that last one too, especially the scale provided by my son coming around the corner on the right side.

Oh, the Kaibab! I miss that view...

General Sherman's my favorite of those pictures though.

Joy for beautiful things, joy indeed.

I love that deer sticking its tongue out at you. :)

You Eclectics always go on the coolest adventures. Now I'm going to have to go out and do something cool just to keep up with you.

Hey! I've seen that big General Sherman tree! Now, come on, I would have offered to help you drive...if I'd known that was an option...dayum girlie!

That's NOT *G* in the background of the General Sherman picture, right? It's just a coincidence that he has red hair (because that kid is way too big to be *G*, RIGHT?!?!) It's just some random boy crushing on your daughter. Because if kids grow THAT fast I'm afraid my Niece will be taller than me the next time I see her.

It looks like you guys had a lot of fun.

I'm STILL super bummed that I couldn't get my ass onto I-5 and block your path long enough to say "HI" :-(

Hell yeah we would have helped you drive! It looks like an awesome time. I've still not seen the Grand Canyon. Did you guys go on that bridge that you would have to put a second mortgage on your house to finance?

Glad the entire Eclectic family had a blast. :)

Bloggy: Listen, no one is allowed to get grumpy before the number of hours it would take to get from wherever one lives to wherever I live. In your case, that would be about, oh, 36 hours of drive-time before you can start. So buck UP.

Matt: Stunning isn't it? It definitely brought joy to us. Thanks.

IronFist: :::whispers::: Uh Vahid? That's not a deer... it's an elk. Just thought you should know.

Traci: Isn't it the coolest?! Sobering to be next to something so huge that's been alive for so long. It was easier for me to get a little perspective on things from the base of that tree.

Q: Yikes... yes, it IS *G*. He is really growing this year. Which is good, because he was starting to look small compared to his friends, so now he's catching back up. Scary. And yeah... next time, please drop everything and magically appear within the oh, 20 minutes or so notice that I give you, okay?!

Ang: OH SURE... everyone's willing to drive NOW...! ;) Nah, we didn't do the glass bridge, we stayed on the South Rim.

William: I KNOW, huh? Don't we get purple heart medals or something for taking kids?

Bloggy: :::offers smelling salts:::

Kranki: HUGE! I wish it could speak -- the stories it could tell.

Mad William: It was epic. It really was. The kids are still going on and on about everything we saw.

Nina: Yeah, except you wouldn't want to miss even one day with Avery!!

Limpy: Well, it would've cost more to photograph the groomed one.

I can't wait to see more pictures! Come on, you have to, you know. I always post mine even though I'm sure I'll bore everyone.

Not sure what those orange flowers are. Are they wild? It looked they might be, but I'm not sure.

CK, I'm trying to talk Ichabod into going back to Sedona this year. I've been there three times and I love it. I also got to meet Nina when I was there the last time. She drove way out of her way to come see us. It was great.

I loooove going on vacation trips. So glad the eclectics had a good time. And for sheer beauty, the second picture is my favorite.

Poppies? maybe not...
We did the 2,600 mile trip last summer. Those are epic moments that don't need repeating very often, esp. with kiddos!
Mine would be envious, we haven't done the Grand Canyon with them yet.
More photos, please!

Post all the pics you want. I have to live vicariously through pictures until I have the time to travel, and those are places at the top of my list. :-)
