How to make me feel small:

1) Start by being really, REALLY huge:

2) Then, show off at sunset:

3) Next, show off at sunrise:

4) After that, be made of ice:

5) And finally, show me a picture of your relatives so I know that you're not alone:
(look carefully at the larger size, you'll see Mt. Hood as well as Mt. Adams in the distance)

Yep. I believe that'll do it.
I do, in fact, feel small.

By the way, did you see Bob Barker up there by chance? Was the price...right?

Wow, wow, WOW (the mountain, and you for climbing it)! That is all.

Bloggy, Bloggy, Bloggy: Bring it; no, Bob was conspicuously absent; and I don't know -- it may have been parmesan, but I didn't try any.

Shawkey: It was truly a life experience like no other I've had to this point. I'm somewhat shocked I did it myself. Thanks!

And you caught it during good weather, too. You can't tell me or anyone else that you didn't have the time of your life going up (coming down always sucks so much worse).

Sir: You are correct on both counts. It was the time of my life going up, and coming down just sucked gigantically! The weather was probably the most perfect it has ever been or ever will be again. Honestly -- we hiked up the Muir snowfield without headlamps because the full moon threw such bright light. Incredible.

Twinnie: Too bad for you... I STILL get to have my birthday first!! *heh*

KC: Yep, that's pretty much how it felt, too.

CK: :::cue Chicago::: You're the meaning in my life, you're the inspiration... Naah, I'm just kiddin' you -- thanks for those words. Mountains have that effect on people.

TG: Well at least I've got my weekend pictures up already. WHERE THE HECK ARE YOURS?!?!?!?!?! ;)

Limpy: Well y'know, photos of actual dogwoods are difficult to locate I hear.

Mo/Dis: Not as awesome as buying your first home, but still... thanks!!

They size does not matter. Its what you do with it that counts.

SWEET pics sister!!!! I can't even believe we don't get to see you next week!!!! Bummer! Seattle will be soon! :) MWA!

William: Sounds like advice you've taken to heart there, my friend. ;)

Shangie: SEATTLE!! Yay!

Yes, Twinnie, it does mean you still get to have your birthday first. But it also means you're still, ahem, older!!! heehee!

I think you should feel quite big just for having gotten to that altitude to take the pics!

At 1:47 PM, Blogger eclectic said...

Twinnie: Yeah! Which makes me the boss of you, right?! ;)

Ortizzle: Thanks! But when you actually reach the top of such a behemoth, it miniaturizes everything and everyone, honest. Even the effort required to achieve it seems small in comparison to how huge and immovable it is. You take the mountain on its terms, not yours.

Is this where I stomp my feet and yell at the top of my lungs "You are NOT the boss of me!"? heehee

What a wonderful accomplishment.

I may just have to move to Wennatchee now. But only if you promise to teach me how to climb mountains.

At 9:17 PM, Blogger eclectic said...

Twinnie: Oh sure, you can try... but you can't win a fight with the calendar. ;)

HTGT: Then I have just the place for you. Join me next summer?

Squirl: Thanks honey! I bet you'd enjoy snow a little more if you had mountains to play on.

IronFist: Well, as much as I'd LOVE that, I can't have you move on false pretexts; technically Mt. Rainier is closer to where you live than where I live. So if you're moving to Wenatchee, it needs to be for another reason...
