I'm BAAaaaaaack...

Like a bad penny, I've returned. It was incredible! We did not summit (this time...) because the glacier was melting out and the route had become unstable. In fact, the route we were using is now closed for the season. But we did make it to 11,400 ft elevation, which is about 3,000 vertical feet short of the summit. And there was a full moon so bright that we turned our headlamps off and continued to climb by moonlight alone. Incredible, I tell you!

I promise I will post photos as soon as I download the software to download the photos from my new camera (yay!) which I took with me -- especially for you guys. I swear, I just give, give, give...

I am glad you did not fall.

I'll second William's comment.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time. The moonlight thing sounds really cool--it's amazing how bright it can be, isn't it?

Can't wait for the photos from the new camera!

I'm just glad we don't have to name any crevasses after you young lady! That would just totally piss me off!

Now, chop chop with those pictures! Hehe

So happy to hear you're down from the mountain safe and sound. You know, not that we were worried or anything.

The glacier in moonlight sounds amazing ... a gift that will last you a lifetime ...

Wow. That moonlight thing does sound awesome. Looking forward to the pix. And the Shari and Squirl pix, too :)

Hello. I followed links in. My timing for exploring new blogs is lucky lately. That sounds like quite an adventure.

The highest I get above sea level is the boardwalk.

ha.

William: Thanks, me too! Although, to be truthful, I DID fall on the way down -- hooked a crampon on a dangling strap and fell, twisting my other knee. Fortunately, that was the extent of the damage.

Shawkey: Totally amazing, especially on a snowfield. Breathtaking, stunning, the whole bit. There's something holy in the air up that high anyway, and the moonlight just sort of highlighted it.

CK: I KNOW! Mr. E surprised me with it right before we left to go to the mountain. Happy new camera, indeed!

Traci: Nope, just keep my name out of your crevasses, young lady! *heh*

Squirl: Yep! In about an hour, and I plan to use it mercilessly. Just so you know. :)

Ang: It's a Fujifilm A-900. Just a little point-n-shoot, but it's got a 4x zoom and 9mp resolution. It's little and I love it so far!

Nilbo: A gift, indeed. And I'm sure you weren't worried, since the Wise and Powerful Nilbo can tell fortunes, so you must have known I'd return.

Susie: Oh man... it was beyond description! And I should have Squirly pics in about an hour!!! Yay!

Bobby: Welcome! It was quite an adventure. We'll have to work on getting you up a mountain, eh?

Shelly: You snuck in! Our team had 5 members: myself, Mr. Eclectic, and three others, all friends. The lead climber has climbed Rainier 8 times, and also has climbed Kilamanjaro, Aconcagua and Denali. He's very experienced, knowledgeable and careful, and it was awesome.

Ok, so you climbed mountains, met Squirl, took pictures...

WHERE ARE THE PICTURES?! What? You think we've got all day to wait around here or sumpin?

Bloggy: Yes, thank gawd! You make me laugh, man.

Mad William: It's nice you think so, since that's really the only kind I am..! I'm working on the photos.

Lynn: I know... I'm a giver like that. Photos are inbound today sometime.

Sooze: Mmmmmkay, but they're not that great yet -- operator error and all, but someday I'll take photos worth getting all excited over I hope.

Mo/Dis: Oooooh... I like it! The Bad Pennies! Next time I start a rock band I'm SO making everyone dye their hair red.

CK: What? You don't just sit immobilized, awaiting my every photo? Why not?!?!?

Bucky: Keep yer shirt on, I'm-a-gittin' to it! Well, I guess you don't really HAVE to keep your shirt on... if it makes you happy, you can take it off. ;)

I'm waiting for pictures. And unlike Bucky, I am keeping my shirt on.

My shirt.

There are few things better than climbing / running / biking by moonlight only.
Some day I'll get out there and explore the wondrous world that is Washington...
I'll bring the tequila.
