Don'tchoo wishyure schedule was hhhhhot like mine?!
Last weekend, our daughter played in a soccer tournament. It was the second weekend of the tournament in Snohomish, WA which is 2 hours or so from here.
But the big news is that Wednesday I was in Portland, OR. I had SO much fun!! I hung out with friends, almost got to witness karaoke history in the making, saw an entire bamboo forest pillaged and tucked neatly into an evening bag, wore arm skins for the first time ever, found a new cycling partner, and just generally drank myself silly in the company of people who make me laugh so hard it ought to be criminal. I don't have pictures though because my camera is still dead, and I'm too technologically backward to download photos from my phone. Sorry. The event was photo-worthy, and perhaps some of the others will post photos they took. I hope so: then I can swipe them off Flickr and y'know, not give credit. ;)
Then, Thursday I almost got to hang out with OTHER friends who are bloggers before I left Portland, but then didn't. Damn impulsiveness anyway! And damn cell phones that are powered off. And damn too little time for all the fun that needs to be had. :(
BUT: I did get to meet sweet Traci because she lives in a town on the road back home, and she joined me at a coffee shop where we giggled and talked for an hour like school chums. Seriously, it was delightful! :)
And then, I was home again 10 minutes shy of 24 hours since I had left the day before. Sweet!
Today, I went to work, and tomorrow? Back to Snohomish in the rain for the final tournament weekend. I wonder just how many miles I can put on my car in one week. This week would have been a record, so now you can just add "globetrotter" to your mental picture of me. And if that's a euphemism for something, I'm quite sure I don't want to know what it is.

Oh, there's pictures. Trust me, there are pictures. I'll be putting up some in my post that's in the works, and the rest on Flickr sometime tomorrow.
You are an absolute CHAMP for driving all that way to hang out with us. It was so good to see you again, and to drag you to dive bars all over downtown. I am going to write a letter to my congressman insisting that they build an express train from your neighborhood to Portland.
Rain? What's that?
I so hope we get to meet this summer. I'm jillis of all those people who live over there and have a better chance of seeing. Of course, being almost in the middle of the country means I have a better chance of meeting bloggers around the country. You know what I mean.
Glad you had a good time. Get a camera already!
I know! I can't believe we missed you!!! In less than a month we WILL be seeing you!!!! :) CAN.NOT.WAIT!
A.
So I am so jealous that you didn't come see me.
But I am glad you had a grand time.
see you in one month:)
It was agony to know you were here & we missed you!
Shelly
I wish your daughter would have a soccer tournament in Northern California!
What? You mean, I was not your FIRST choice to spend an 'off' Thursday morning with?
I don't know whether to be insulted ooooorrrrr...damn glad I got out of that office for an hour and a half! hehehe...roflmaosoms...hehe... bwaahaahaahaahaahaa!
Let's do it again! Let's do it again! Please, please, please! Can we, can we, can we???!!! >>>jumping up and down like an excited little first grader<<<
You ROCK sweets! I mean it's not every day one gets to meet their 47 year old almost twin right?! heh
there were so many firsts that evening, i've lost track. jenny's first felony theft, sibyl's first chopstick cigarette, vahid's and my first embrace (well, FIRST THAT EVENING), but most momentous of all: YOUR FIRST PBR. WTF.
how is it even possible to live past the age of 14 in this country and NOT have had a PBR? i thought i knew you.
you, of course, do not have to give credit for photos. the credit rule doesn't apply to hot girls.
just posted some photos...
you seriously rock for driving all that way to hang out - it was an absolute blast. i'll sign any petition vahid puts in front of me if it means we get to hang out more.
but brandon, who says that was my first felony theft?
yeah, if i had known you'd never had a PBR before, i TOTALLY would have told you to have one for me.
pfft. tom collins. what the heck was i thinking?
How awesome, E!!
Iron Fist: GREAT pictures!! I'd drive another 5 hours back just to do it again -- you guys are like my own personal comedy team!! But the express train is not a bad idea...
Bloggy: Well, you see, when two clouds get together and they really like each other, they kinda rub up against each other until they get all excited... oh never mind. Go ask your father.
Squirl: "Hope"?!? Nuh-uh. We're GOING to meet while you're here!!! If I have to hang-glide off the top of Rainier, I'm NOT missing getting to see you.
Angie: It's going to be a blast!!! Bring mosquito spray, though!
Nina: Couldn't you just see if John wants to move to Washington?
Shelly: I SO wanted to see you guys!
Sooze: Would I get to meet Moto? Because if so, I may try to rig it!! ;) When are you bringing your pretty self up here again?!
Traci: You were my first choice of people to meet up with once I got on the road. Doesn't that count?! And anyway, at least I took a shower...! ;) It was so easy hanging out with you -- exactly like being with a dear friend. YOU, my friend, are the one who rocks! Yes please, let's do it again soon!!
Brandon: Obviously my beer education has been woefully lacking. Lucky for me, I've fallen in with a band of seasoned veterans of the drinking wars, so any deficit remaining is sure to be corrected soon.
Jenny: Whoa, look who remembered her password so she can comment?! It was SOOOO much fun! But next time, before I stay at Camp Juniper with a known chopstick thief, maybe I should run a background check?
Kat: If I had only known of the mandatory nature of the PBR experience! And anyway, I ended up driving all over the city trying to find a suitable venue for our karaoke smash duo, so it's probably just as well that Tom and I never met.
Lynn: It was! Go check out the photos at Jenny's and Iron Fist's -- see for yourself!!!
Thank you so much for coming down! Please email me some information about that ride in September. Turns out I had my camera with me the whole time, drat. Good thing everyone else took so many good shots.
Sounds like a great little trip and I'm exhausted just reading about it! In any case, I'm still chuckling at a place being called 'Snohomish' (because it makes me think of garden gnomes for some reason) and that on Friday on my way to a meeting I drove through a village called Tiddleywink. Honestly!
Hi E.
I am currently hard at work inventing an activity for which "globetrotter" can be the euphemism, then picturing you globetrotting. Thank you.
What Nilbo said.
Both of our daughters play soccer. Soccer tournaments SUCK! I mean, I'm glad they have fun and get some exercise, but some of these people are insane. It's just a game! Don't you people have a LIFE?
Aaaaaaaaanypoop.
I wish I lived closer and could meet you guys. It sounds like a lot of fun.
Hello, Shari.
Jeez... Have you blocked time out for sleep?!
Good GOD, Woman!
Just reading your post makes me want to take a Valium and go lie down.
I'd say "lay off the caffeine", but it sounds like consistent (and heavy) doses is part of your survival strategy!
I'm so glad you had fun!
Your social life is sizzlin'!
Ah, yes! I remember my days of soccer tournaments and all sorts of social engagements and running here and there and everywhere. But that was 20 or so years ago. Now its just medical appointments at the VA.
I'm so jealous you were able to meet so many people and have a great time. Especially Traci.
That is one hot schedule! You sure get around ;-)
thanks so much for coming down!!! it was great fun. and you even have a bike rack on your car, that makes you super cool in my book.
xxx
HOLY COW! That's a busy week.
I'll have to search out some of the pictures. Sounds like a great time!
How fun! I would love to meet my blogger friends, so I bet you really enjoyed that. I would almost drive that far just to see your part of the country. (An old high school friend of mine lives in Seattle. If only I had not lost track of her...)
P.S. Totally off topic: There's a question waiting for you over at my place. :-)
