AWOL

***peeking around the corner***

Hello? Is anybody here?? *sigh* I guess I can't blame you for taking off -- I've been, shall we say, sporadic at best in my attendance here. I've a host of lovely excuses, but since none of them are life-threatening or the least bit interesting, I'll forego naming them. (W O R K, K I D S, F L U, C O M P A N Y)

As a reward for your patience, I'll share with you a conversation held with my 9-year-old son yesterday:

ME: Have you fed the cat?

SON: She's not a cat.

ME: She's not?

SON: No. She's my wife.

ME: ***blink, blink***

SON: I'm serious. I married her in the garden. [Sister's name] was a witness.
***pause***

So... now can she sleep on my bed?

The cat should only sleep in your bed when your son's in the doghouse.

Hello, Shari.

how can you tell the progeny of two (hot) lawyers? their 9-year-old makes sure there is a witness to his marriage to the cat.

too cute.

Dang! I totally left out the bestiality plot in MY Eeeclectic post!

Sweet. Cleverness meets sassiness. The witness is just gravy.

That is PRICELESS!

So, NOW can the cat sleep on his bed, hmmm? I married into having a cat and he already took possession of everywhere in the house--except the tables and counters--we humans are there to cater to his every whim, and, when he's feeling like he likes us, he will kill pesky flies that are bothering us or bring us home a mouse or two for dinner. So kind, eh?!

This post was worth the wait. Too funny!

OMG!!! Too funny.

He's such a gentleman (waiting for marriage before sharing a bed). You raised him right Eclectic (even if that conversation was a tad odd ;-)

I've been a delinquent blog visitor to, E. We can feel guilty together!

The ingeniousness of children blows me away. Your child is no exception.

Uhm, so did you have "the talk" after that?

Ok, so Big Sis was the witness, but who was the justice of the peace? And was the paper work notarized and filed?

So, basically the question is now this:
"Did you make sure your wife has food and water?"

Awww, that's cute! And awfully inventive. No pets on the furniture, huh? I don't blame you.

We missed you like crazy!

The kid is learning fast. Sometimes I have called my ex-girl friend by the name of my cat—and vice versa.

Okay, this post makes more sense to me now than it did earlier. Now I feel like my previous comment is stupid. Don't get me wrong. I'm accustomed to leaving a trail of very stupid comments across the blogosphere. Usually, however, I leave them on purpose. Leaving a stupid comment accidentally is... well... stupid.

Hello again.

PWAHAHAAHAAA! What is it with that age and the marrying of the critters? LG tells me frequently, "Biscuit wants to marry you, Mom."

So, um, where are they registered?

ROFLMAO!!! That story is too funny! Aren't children wonderful? Do you know what the best part of this story is for me? Your son feels like he can talk to you! How wonderful he can and how even more wonderful is it that you listen! Soooo...did you have "the talk" with him after he informed you about your new daughter-in-law??? LOLOLOL

This is TOO cute and makes me feel much better for wanting to marry my father (and when told that I couldn't do that, I decided I would have to settle for my brother).

Oh, and E, darlin... I'd watch out. Daughters-In-Law like that can be so... catty.... ;)

I have been thinking about this all day . . . I would have said to him, sorry son that isn't allowed. You know, you just can't get married without your mother there. :) Anyway I'm such a softy I would let the cat sleep on the bed. This had made me smile all day. Thanks dear for sharing. :)
