An announcement in the public interest.

After our second child was born, Mr. E and I thought it would be good to close the baby factory at our house. We decided upon the vasectomy as the most practical choice. Besides, there's that whole notion of paybacks for pregnancy, childbirth and breast-feeding. At any rate, when Little Boy Eclectic (now 8, not pictured above) was about 2&1/2, we dammed the river.
But, the universe has a sense of humor, and it's not always funny.
When I became ill about 2&1/2 years after that, I was sure it was the flu, even though my cycle was late. Because I knew I hadn't been doing any outsourcing, and Mr. E was fixed! But then the damn test stick kept showing 2 lines. "For godsakes, they must have changed the code and now two lines = NOT pregnant" is what I was thinking, when I actually retrieved the box from the recycling bin to read the instructions. Nope, 2 lines still = pregnant.
WTF??
Turns out: you actually have to go back in and get those little dams checked to make sure no swimmers are getting past 'em, 'cause they sometimes build a fish ladder to get upstream. Turns out: the rationale, "Well, if it hasn't happened by now, it isn't going to" is a TOTAL fallacy and only really dumb people would believe it...dumb people who are going to be parents.
Anyone here still shocked to find him driving a SeaDoo?

What a little cutie. He reminds me a lot of my grandson.
Wow, that must have been a real shocker!
He's definitely a swimmer, huh?
How cute! The story AND the boy!
I better warn Bucky. Jim had a vasectomy and I don't know if he's ever been checked. I wonder how many pregnant women didn't live to have their husbands checked, if you get my drift.
sierrabella: That's what I've been saying -- he reminds me a lot of your grandson, too! And yes... it was a shocker, but as surprises go, he's awfully sweet.
soozieq: Thanks! For stopping by AND leaving such a nice comment!! I'm glad you did b/c I've been meaning to pop over and see you everytime I read your comments over at sierrabella's.
squirl: No, no...don't tell her. Can you say "Auntie Squirl"? **wink**
Well if it had to be a big surprise, what an adorable surprise to get.
No I am not shocked to find him driving a SeaDoo? Thanks for the laugh. And the really cute picture of your little swimmer. :)
Driving the ski-doo is second nature to him, eh?
I cracked up when you said you were not outsourcing. He is adorable. Yes, sometimes our decisions dont match what the universe wants, yet it somehow turns out better than what we wanted.
Life's 'little' ironies.
yeah, those unexpected ones are hard to keep penned in.
nanina: You're welcome! Glad it made you smile.
lawbrat: Yeah, well, maybe the universe wants me to send him over to Camp Lawbrat for a week, cause that sounds pretty good to me! Oh right, corporate tax finals...sorry. Maybe later!
peter: THAT's what we should have named him: Irony.
brando: Penned in? I'd be happy just to keep him within sight. *sigh*
My kids LOVE kids. Yours and Hunter would have a blast swimming. Hunter can teach him some cool dives into the pool. That kid is fearless! Finals are over in 3 weeks...camp lawbrat will be open. :-)
lawbrat: Sweeeeeeeeet! Camp Lawbrat '05!! But what are you doing on blogs this morning? Aren't you supposed to be studying, young lady?! (Gotta make sure our future associate gets good value for her education dollar, y'know...!)
I'm getting off the computer now. On to the world of corporate tax. I just bought 'examples and explanations of corporate tax' I'm hoping it will help. Wish me luck!
